Top 3 places to travel on your gap year

According to research, here are the top 3 places to travel in your gap year

Thinking on taking a gap year away from the wet and windy UK? To be honest with you, I would if I could. I love a holiday and some places on this list will make you never want to go home! Whether it is backpacking, volunteering or a more relaxing experience, these places have something for everyone.

1.Bali

Also known as the land of the Gods, Bali is a vision of natural beauty, with volcanoes and terraced rice field, a true vision of peace. You can also visit the beach to catch the waves in the ultimate surfers Paradise. Not only is it visibly stunning, you may also experience much of Bali's authentic culture and tradition. With colourful ceremonies, exiting nightlife and gorgeous beaches, it really has everything you need. The average spend in a day in Bali is only £45, which is extremely cheap when compared to all that the Indonesian island has to offer.

If you are interested in getting involved in Balinese life, there are many oppourtunies for jobs and volunteering. For example, deep diving in the aquamarine waters to help with Marine conservation, like reef re-building. Some volunteering companies also have a bonus- taking the groups to explore beautiful scenic waterfalls and visit monkey forests!

2.Thailand

Less than a 12-hour journey from central London, this magical and cultural paradise is one you need to put on your bucket list.

The city has so much to offer, and will only cost you around £20-25 a day, for the solo-travellers bare necessities. How cheap is that! Thailand is also known for it's vibrant and busy nightlife, whether you are looking for a more generic bar or club, to immersing yourself attending the local festivals; there is something for everyone.

If you are looking for a more immersive experience, the country has many volunteer opportunities, from teaching at local schools, helping with childcare projects to Marine and wildlife conservation.

It truly is an amazing place, one you MUST visit at least once in your lifetime.

3.Australia

Australia, one of the surf capitals in the world and largest countries on earth, is a total dreamy place. Due to the colonial history between the UK and Australia, many find the culture and values to be extremely compatible, with many Brits -annually- making this destination holiday a home. The average vacation price a day is around £100 (AU$192). However, past travellers have managed to spend approximately £68 (AU$79) for travel and food.

Although this destination may be a little more pricey than others, there are so many places to visit and things to see; whether you wish to explore the capital, Canberra, with its beautiful architecture and a chance to see the city from a hot air balloon! Or you could visit the cultural and economic centres of Australia, like Sydney and Melbourne, with the legendary opera house and breath-taking beaches.

There is something for everyone in this prosperous country.
